The Seattle Children's Museum

We decided to take Andrew to the Seattle Children's Museum on Saturday. He had a BLAST! We were in there for 3 1/2 hours and Andrew would have stayed longer. He kept finding things he wanted to go back and do again on the way out. We went to dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory afterwards and when we left he said he wanted to go back to the Museum. We told him it was dark and it was closed, he argued with us for a while in the car. When he woke up the next morning he said he wanted to go back to the Museum instead of church. I guess we'll have to go back again.
(We definitley got more for our money than at the Tacoma Children's Museum. There isn't as much for younger kids to do at the Tacoma museum, and the Seattle museum is 22,000 square feet!!)

Andrew loved this bus/van!! It was part of the global village that had a motorbike and a Korean subway car and Japanese houses they could go in.
(I did get a little frustrated with the older kids bossing around the younger kids and pushing them out of the way, Andrew just stands there like what did I do.)

Riding the subway car

The motorbike, except Andrew didn't want to sit on the actual bike seat, he just wanted to ride on the seat next to it.

Andrew stirring and cooking in one of the houses

This was in cog city where the kids could push buttons to make water do stuff and use plastic golf balls to send through things.

Painting, his favorite thing! He was very nice about sharing with another girl

He concentrates hard

They also have a forest area where the kids can crawl through logs and climb on things and there were rocks to lift up and look at the (fake) bugs and creatures underneath.

There was also an REI tent set up that the kids could play in and sleeping bags. Andrew pretended to lay down and go to sleep, mommy would have liked to take a nap in there, I was tired after a long day of playing.

Crawling through the nurse log

In the tent with daddy too

Climbing through the whale

Discovery bay (for birth to 3 years old) was right up his alley. He didn't want to play in the water table though, odd little boy.

Going down the slide, cautiously however

There was a HUGE Curious George exhibit with lots of things to do

Going down Curious George's rocket ship slide

Bending down to give Curious George a hug

2 little monkeys! :)

Driving a big fire truck

There was a grocery store and he drove the cart around collecting food and then went to the counter to check out. We would pretend to scan it and he says 'beep, beep.' Ver cute! The grocery store is one of his favorite places to go at home.

There was also a construction are where you could build things but he and daddy mostly just spun wingnuts and played with stuff that someone else had built

All in all it was a really fun day! (Even though it was long) We'll have to go back sometime. (I wish it wasn't so far away and we didn't have to pay for parking! Oh well.

It was supposed to snow yesterday

I thought it was supposed to snow yesterday???!!! It was very sunny and not too cold. Andrew likes to drive his car to the mailbox and back and we did sidewalk chalk. Mommy was drawing letters and numbers and I tried to teach Andrew hopscotch. He can't jump though so that was kind of a bust. :)

What a cutie pie!

He's excited because he's trying to get mommy with his car

Hey, it's a little bright for pictures mommy

I asked him to get down and draw with the chalk so I could take his picture and then he stood up and said "You got it."

My big boy! I can't believe he's almost 3!

Chasing Mommy at the park today

It was a very sunny day so we all (mommy, daddy, and Andrew...we left the dogs at home) went to one of our favorite parks. Andrew's favorite thing to do at Spanaway park is to play cars, they have a car racing game on one of the walls. Everything was very wet though so he was slipping on some stuff so he didn't want to climb on anything. We were able to coax him onto the 'dry' swings though.

Weeeeeeeee!!!!!

Andrew wanted mommy and daddy to swing next to him

Me and my boy! :)

One of our fun activites before we left was chasing mommy through the trees. I would run (slowly) and Andrew would chase me and I would hide behind one of the trees and then we he was coming I would keep going around the tree. I did let him catch me sometimes though. He thought it was great fun!

"Where's mommy?"

"Ha! I tricked him!"

There was also a cool cannon at the park.

Then Andrew insisted we go to 'Muh's' house after the park because when he was there last night being babysat by 'Grumpa,' Muh was at Bible study and he didn't get to see her. It was not a long enough visit however, he really didn't want to put away the cars.

A Circus Comes to Town

Andrew loves Thomas the Train and all the other trains so we decided to take him to the Thomas Live show at Key Arena, "A Circus Comes to Town." We went last Friday night (opening night was half price). It was interactive and they would have the kids make chugga, chugga wheel sounds/motions and whistle noises and shout things during the show. The kids did get a little restless when they were singing and performing without trains on the stage. They came to see the trains. Andrew had fun running around on the floor behind the front row seats during intermission.
Getting ready to go on our adventure. Juice or milk?

"Thomas!" (When the trains started coming out I was a little worried because James didn't come out at first and Andrew kept yelling "James, James!" But alas, he was there.

Intently watching the show

He really liked it!

Sir Topham Hatt
Thank you mommy!
We let Andrew run off a little 'steam' (energy) before we left.

We put Andrew in (Thomas) jammies before we left because we knew he would fall asleep in the car
I asked Andrew to smile and say "I like Thomas" for this picture. I caught him in mid yell of "Thomas!"

On another note, Andrew has been doing really well at potty training for the last 3 weeks. He went before we left the house, but I asked him to go potty a couple of other times and he said "No, I go at home." I tried to tell him we weren't going home for a long time. He still woldn't go. I thought for sure when he fell asleep in the car he would go in his diaper. We got home and he was out cold, I laid him down to change his diaper and it was dry, he had held it for several hours, and he had 3 sippy cups of fluids! He was VERY sleepy and I told him I needed him to sit on the potty and he did it, he was a little slumped over though. :)

Last week

We hadn't been feeling good last week so we mostly just hung around the house. Andrew was very sweet and tucked me into his bed when I was sitting in his bed watching him play with trains.

I have no idea what he had just eaten that was all over his face :)
We haven't posted any bath pictures for a while, so here you go:

Andrew did some art projects with daddy while mommy was resting.
Making tracks:
They used hot wheels and monster trucks dipped in paint to make these pictures

We call this one "In the Spring" :)

Here are a few more pictures of Andrew snuggling with mommy on the couch while we were sick

A tow truck ride

I completely forgot about another adventure Andrew had during that busy couple of weeks.

A couple weeks ago (Wednesday, the 18th), daddy decided to take Andrew and Grover and Zoe (the two dogs) up to Buck Creek Camp (East of Enumclaw) to play and run around in the snow. Well, apparently the gravel parking lot at the camp turned into one giant sinkhole and the SUV's tires were stuck, like quicksand. Matt had to call AAA to get a tow truck to come up and wench the car out.
He and Andrew had to hike out to the highway to direct the tow truck driver so they got a ride back in the tow truck. Lots of fun for Andrew, not for us of course. And AAA decided they wouldn't pay for it because it was on forest service property!!! Arghhh!!!
