Camping 2009

We went on our annual camping trip the weekend of the 21st-23rd. A big group of my husband's high school friends all go camping together one weekend every year. This year we went to Belfair State Park. We had a lot of fun exploring the beach and the creek, playing in the dirt, hanging out with friends and having campfires. We can't wait until next year, hopefully baby sister will like it. :)

Andrew was packed in like a little sardine in the back, I could barely see him from the front passenger seat

He's SO excited to go!

Andrew and I went to explore the beach while daddy cooked dinner and finished setting up

The beach was mostly rocks and twigs and oyster shells

But Andrew loves to throw rocks in the water so he was okay with a rocky beach

Hood Canal

Digging in the sand we could find

Andrew decided he wanted to sit in his Mickey Mouse camp chair instead of at the picnic table so he used the cooler as his table

Daddy cookin'

This was the beach in the morning....mud flats, almost as far as the eye could see. Some of our friends kids got stuck up to the waist in mud, we didn't go out there.

Daddy and Andrew got to go out on Chris' boat to check his crab pots, although there weren't any big enough to keep. Andrew didn't want to touch them. He had a lot of fun but he was really upset when they first left because he wanted mommy to go with (we didn't have enough adult life jackets and it's a small boat).

A better picture of daddy, his eyes aren't closed this time

My little captain

I think this was Andrew's favorite activity...playing in the dirt! There was a big dirt pile in our friends' campsite right next to us. Luckily we were able to get all of our campsites right together and they had little paths in between.

Celeste was hamming it up for the camera

Silly Celeste again

Josiah, Johanna, and Grace

(We had 12 adults and 13 kids)

Johanna, Amy & Andrew

Andrew LOVED Amy and he always wanted to go over to their campsite (that's also where the dirtpile was and her two little boys) and show her things.

Andrew and Mommy roasting hot dogs and s'mores before we left.

"A little cold Matt?" This creek ran through our campground down to Hood Canal

Andrew wasn't very happy about going in the creek, he thought it was too cold!

Throwin' rocks

My boys

Andrew wanted to show me the 'other' beach but it was very muddy when we were leaving.

Belfair was a pretty interesting place, we passed the Red Barn Restaurant that advertised the 'udder room' and then we passed this sign on our way out. :) (I'd never pick up hitchhikers anyway)

Andrew's Mowhawk :)

Last Tuesday (8/18/09) I took Andrew to our usual barber to get his haircut. When she was done she asked him if he wanted his hair styled and he very excitedly yelled, "Yeah!" So she put a lot of gel on and made a Mohawk, or a Fohawk since it's not really cut like a Mohawk. He was laughing hysterically. We went to a barbecue that night and everyone loved it!

I think he looks a little like Alfalfa from the front :)

One excited little boy

Andrew is SOOOOO excited to go camping tomorrow!! He got out of bed so many times! Argh!! I went in to rock him once and I asked him, "You know how much mommy loves you right?" And he said, "I love you lots and lots and lots!!!" I said, "I love you lots and lots and lots too!!" Then he said "I love you when we go to Belfair." :) We're going to Belfair State Park.
He helped daddy set up the tent today to make sure everything was there and then he brought all his stuffed animals down from his bed and took each one around the tent and showed them where everyone was going to sleep. :)
I promise there will be pictures sometime after this weekend.

Cars and their drivers

I came home Sunday night from work to find that Andrew (probably being told to put away his cars) had parked all of his cars, with drivers for each one. Sometimes he likes to park them all around his barn too.

The pig is driving the school bus

The sheep is driving the truck (from the back)

I didn't know a horse could drive a fire truck. Has there ever been a sheep in space.

He even had the cow driving his remote controller for his remote control truck :)

Spider-Man even had to drive that little lego car that only has wheels

I can understand the farmer driving, but a pig?

All the kids from the bus get to ride in his porsche, I guess it's a step up

We went for our ultrasound this morning and found out it's a girl! We're SO excited!!! Andrew is such a proud big brother! He's so excited to tell everybody that it's a baby sister!

Ultrasound pictures to come.....

The dog park

On Sunday (8/9/09) we took Andrew and the dogs to the huge dog park at Fort Steilacoom. Andrew, Grover, and Zoe LOVED it!!! They had an absolute blast!!!

He'd been before so he was showing mommy all the places to go. He got plenty of doggy kisses too.

Andrew's showing mommy the tunnels. The dogs love to go through the tunnels of blackberry bushes too. :)

"Cheese!" Andrew loves to have his picture taken

He loves throwing the ball for the dogs, he just gets knocked over sometimes because he doesn't throw very far.

Our anniversary

Matt and I went to Seattle last Saturday for our 8th Anniversary. We walked around Pike Place Market and had dinner at a Mediterranean restaurant and got ice cream on the way home. A great day!

My hubby :)

Me, 19 weeks pregnant

These are the only pictures we actually got in Pike Place Market...me buying raspberries, not very exciting.

The Zoo yesterday

Yesterday (Monday, August 3rd) Andrew and I went to the Point Defiance Zoo with my coworker Rebecca and her sweet little boy Ryan. It was like 90 degrees that day but we had fun.

Andrew in the sandbox

Ryan and Andrew busy playing

The future veterinarian :)

'Listening' to the iguana
Andrew loved climbing on this and he even tried to jump off, but then just stepped down
Ryan liked it too. :)
A sweet boy
Andrew feeding the budgies
We were sitting in the path of the budgies (the birds) from their building so they kept swooping over our heads and startled us when two tried to land on our feed stick at the same time. But then we relaxed and they ate it all. Andrew wasn't so sure at first either but then he helped me.
Andrew and the Mayan Tapir
Andrew and Ryan loved the aquarium!
Andrew in the shark's mouth
Mommy and Andrew
We were worn out after spending 5 hours at the zoo, he was asleep shortly after we got back to the main road. He was so tired that it was difficult to get him up from his nap so he came and snuggled with mommy for a bit. :)
Andrew also went to Northwest Trek on Saturday with daddy.
My cute boy!
He's reading the map....upside down. (Don't tell him) So cute!
Last Thursday (July 30th), I took Andrew to the dentist. This was actually his third visit, but on the previous visits the dentist just looked at his teeth and painted on the fluoride. But since he turned 3 it was time to get his teeth cleaned and x-rays done.

"Cheese!" Showing off his sparkly teeth

Just chillin'

He HAD to take his cars with him!

He did really well, no tears. They did his x-ray first and he tried really hard to do what she asked him to but they only got a couple of them, oh well. Then she took him back to clean his teeth and he held my hand and her pinky finger while she did it. He picked out Cookie tooth polish. They showed him the 'tickly' toothbrush before they used it and the water pik was 'Mr. Thirsty' :) He got to pick out his new toothbrush and he picked a princess toothbrush. At least it just stays in the bathroom.

I was very proud of my big boy!

Sam's 7th Birthday

Last Tuesday, July 27th, was Andrew's cousin Sam's 7th birthday. It was extremely hot that day so Sam wanted to go to a movie. He picked G-Force (spy hamsters). This was Andrew's first movie, bad idea. The previews shot his attention span, he asked if it was over. He sat in his seat for a little while and ate popcorn, then he sat on grandma's lap and used the bathroom. But after about an hour he was sitting on my lap and kicking the seat in front of him and being loud so I made him leave, he was screaming and crying on the way out, which made Ian, his baby cousin start crying.
Sam loved the movie but I think a cartoon would have been more up Andrew's alley. He doesn't sit down and watch t.v. for very long. Maybe in another year or so we'll try again.
